PHB as thermoplastic polyester

PHB as a thermoplastic polyester and a completely biodegradable polymer materials, has good Ethyl lactate,  so a wide range of applications, can be used as a variety of green packaging materials (such as container, paper coating, heat water oil products, biodegradable films, etc.); may be used as drug matrix implanted in the human body in order to control drug release; also as a scaffold for tissue engineering and bone repair materials.
PHB biosynthetic with high chemical purity and stereoregularity tacticity, molecular chain, and R-type linear magnessium lactate it is easily crystallized, forming a large spherulites, low elongation, at room temperature showed great brittleness, the impact of intolerance, lack of flexibility and elasticity. Meanwhile, the high crystallinity of PHB degradation of performance is greatly reduced, so that the degradation rate is not effectively controlled. PHB is very unstable in the molten state, and the processing temperature range is very narrow. In addition, PHB and other commercially available plastics, expensive and severely limits its application in the application of biodegradable material.
